Do it!!When I say the word “commitment” what comes to mind? What do you think of?

According to Merriam Webster dictionary, commitment is defined as:

  • a promise to do or give something

  • a promise to be loyal to someone or something

  • the attitude of someone who works very hard to do or support something

Last week, I spent 2 days with my coaches, Iman and Afrin of Red Elephant, in a work intensive mastermind. I worked on my business, received support from my fellow entrepreneurs, and tried to define what my commitment was to my business and myself.

We watched a recent sermon by Bishop TD Jakes who talks about commitment. It wasn’t about the religious aspect but it was about the commitment aspect that resonated with me.  (If you watch, start 15-minutes into the video.) He says, “without commitment you will not succeed” and “commitments have nothing to do with your feelings”. It’s about dedication, obligation, and your word. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Rh_H_ShkEXs.

Commitment equals accountability and integrity.

Here are a few suggestions to help keep your commitment on track:

  1. Create a goal each morning of something that needs to be done that day.
  2. Be vocal of what YOU stand for (in business or personally).
  3. Follow through. Do whatever it takes to finish whatever it is you say you will finish.
  4. Schedule & use a calendar to create deadlines. Deadlines will help you succeed.
  5. Find an accountability partner.
  6. Deliver on a promise.

COMMITMENT

I am committed to working on my business, my health, my clients, my family, and happiness. Remember it’s all within YOU.

What are you committed to?
