Happy October and Happy Fall. This is one of my favorite times of the year! I love the Northeast foliage. For Rosh Hashanah (The Jewish New Year) my family likes to go apple picking and this year was no exception. We headed out to Warwick, New York and spent a beautiful sunny day picking apples, chatting, and visiting Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery.

This time of year reminds us to forgive others, atone for the past year, and start anew. I also think it’s a time to forgive ourselves. Life can get hectic, we find our days overwhelmed with too much, such as: balancing our personal and professional lives, catching up with friends, overbooking meetings, paying the bills, getting work tasks complete, taking care of loved ones, managing your children’s schedules, etc.

BreaktimeWe have to remember to stop and take a break. So during the day when you feel stressed and exhausted, like you are on a roller-coaster, do one of the following things to center and calm yourself:

1) Engage in breathing exercises. Focus on your breath by inhaling and exhaling for a few minutes.

2) Get up and take a walk. Just changing your position and altering your gravity will release tension.

3)  Find someone to ask them a question about their day. This will help you step away from yourself and clear your mind.

A simple interaction will help re-direct your overwhelm. Don’t spent too much time with this distraction however, as it’s just meant to be a subtle intermission.
Keep me posted on your progress!
